Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Floating (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, floating.tools (“Floating”).
2. Cookies and Tracking Technologies We Use
We group cookies and similar technologies into two categories: Necessary, which are always active because the website cannot function without them, and Analytics, which are only active if you allow them. We do not use performance, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies of any kind.
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| simuly_session | Necessary | Keeps hiring-team users signed in to their account | 7 days |
| simuly-consent | Necessary | Remembers your cookie preferences, stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie | 6 months, or until you change your choice |
| Vercel Analytics | Analytics | Aggregate, anonymized page-view statistics. Does not set a cookie or use a persistent identifier, and is only loaded after you allow the Analytics category | Not applicable (no cookie set) |
Candidates taking an assessment do not sign in and receive no tracking cookies; their assessment session is identified by the invitation link they were given. The Analytics category above still applies to candidate pages if you allow it, since it measures usage of the whole site.
3. Similar Technologies
We use your browser's local storage for functional preferences that never leave your device unless you submit them as part of an assessment:
- Theme preference: remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.
- Assessment workspace state: during an assessment, in-progress work such as AI-assistant chat threads is kept in local storage so it survives a page reload.
4. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies and local storage to:
- Keep hiring-team users signed in securely.
- Remember your display and cookie preferences.
- Preserve in-progress assessment work in your browser during a session.
- If you allow it, measure aggregate site usage through Vercel Analytics.
We do not use cookies to track you across other websites, build advertising profiles, or measure marketing campaigns.
5. User Consent and Control
On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, or customize your choice by category. Necessary cookies cannot be switched off, since the site cannot function without them. You can change your mind at any time — click to reopen your preferences, or use the same link in the footer of any page or your account menu if you are signed in. You can also clear cookies and local storage directly through your browser settings.
6. Third-Party Cookies and Services
We do not set third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you allow the Analytics category, Vercel Analytics collects aggregate, anonymized page-view statistics for us; it does not set a cookie and does not track you across other websites. Some assessments may embed third-party tools inside the workspace; when they do, those tools may set their own cookies, which are governed by the respective third party's privacy policy.
7. Managing Cookies
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking our essential cookie will prevent hiring-team users from signing in. For more information on how to manage cookies, visit your browser's help section or allaboutcookies.org.
8. Changes to the Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy will indicate when it was last revised.
9. Contact Information
